EXHALE
Arizona Commission
EXHALE is a 3 metre marble sculpture currently in development for a private private residence in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The commission began with a sculptural alcove embedded within the architecture of the home — a space visible from within the residence and framed against the surrounding Sonoran desert landscape. The intention was to develop a work that felt calm yet commanding at architectural scale, holding presence without overwhelming the space.
The process began through dialogue with the client, supported by visualisation studies exploring proportion, placement, and materiality within the architecture. At this scale, structural integration, installation methodology, and environmental conditions become central to the design conversation, alongside the sculptural form itself.
The images below trace the development of the project, from site studies and visualisation through material selection and specialist stone fabrication in Pietrasanta Italy, with installation currently in planning.
